Appointment HIRLAM senior code analyst

The HIRLAM Council has formally appointed Roel Stappers (met.no) as HIRLAM senior code analyst. He will likely take up his new duties from 1 November 2017 onwards. Hereby a warm welcome to Roel in his new role!
The code analyst will play an important role in defining the desirable evolution of the LAM data assimilation code in the shared ALADIN-HIRLAM system, in finding technical solutions for implementing the LAM developments into the new OOPS data assimilation framework, and in creating validation tests for the assimilation code from cycle to cycle.

Announcement: position HIRLAM Senior code analyst for data assimilation

The HIRLAM Council has decided to open up the position of HiRLAM Senior code analyst for data assimilation.
Applicants are requested to send a short motivational letter and c.v. to the HIRLAM programme manager, Jeanette Onvlee ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ). Close of application period: 1 September 2017. Duration of the appointment, in principle, is until end of HIRLAM-C- period (31 December 2020).

Appointment Project Leader Atmospheric Forecast Model

The HIRLAM Council has formally appointed Sander Tijm from KNMI to succeed Lisa as project leader for the Atmospheric Forecast Model. Lisa Bengtsson has left SMHI (and HIRLAM) to take up a position in Boulder. Sander has a long history as a productive scientist on physics issues within HIRLAM and has also served as project leader Physics parametrizations during HIRLAM-A.
